Meet us at the Monaco Yacht Show I Sept. 22-25, 2021

Held at Monaco’s Port Hercules from September 22-25, 2021, MYS will feature more than 300 exhibitors, 60 superyachts, and 40 brand new launches, including boats leading the sail, motor, and explorer ranges.

Whether you’re in the market for a new superyacht, interested in an unforgettable yacht charter experience, or eager to get a glimpse of the latest onboard design trends, here’s your complete guide to the Monaco Yacht Show.

In light of COVID-19, MYS and Informa Markets are working together to create a Covid-safe event. There is a list of sanitary measures in place to promote a safe event, including the presentation of a valid health pass at the show entrances, enhanced cleaning, hand sanitizing stations, and social distancing. U.S. citizens traveling to Monaco for the boat show must present proof of a negative Covid-19 test taken within 48 hours or proof of vaccination.

Once you’re in Monaco, there are plenty of luxury hotels and five-star restaurants close to the boat show. Monaco Yacht Show also provides options for arranging transportation, including a private jet, helicopter, shuttle boats, and chauffeur. When you’re settled in and ready to enjoy the event, expect to see and tour some of the biggest superyachts on display.

Show organizers are consistently looking for new ways to attract the next wave of yacht owners, specifically young clientele who have a penchant for high-tech and innovation. Perhaps that’s why the tenders and toys exhibition was a hit during previous years, and will return for its fourth installment in 2021. At this exhibit, you’ll find everything from jet packs and fly boards to amphibious vehicles and personal submarines.

New to the event this year is the yacht design and innovation hub where you can discuss your first yacht building project with the designer and attend live presentations. MYS organizers aim at enhancing the first-time superyacht experience of the new generation of customers who plan to build their future yacht.

The Monaco Yacht Summit is an annual event that offers detailed information about yachting to clients through a series of panel discussions led by experts in the yachting industry. Attendees have a chance to speak with selected specialists who can answer their questions about various aspects of yacht charter, purchase, operation, and ownership. The Monaco Yacht Summit is held on September 21, 2021 at the Monaco Yacht Club.

5 tips : How to organize the best holidays aboard a superyacht

Have you been dreaming of once in a lifetime trip, explore new parts of the world and finally escaping these unusual times?

For most, travel in the current climate can be daunting, not knowing the new regulations per country, vaccine status and the fear of illness, but there is one type of holiday that can bypass many of these concerns – chartering a superyacht.

There are few industries that can offer absolute privacy, or the world class standard of luxury, which can be offered aboard a crewed charter yacht. However, picking the right yacht and destination can be a challenging task, here are 5 tips on how to organize the best holidays aboard your superyacht.

TIP 1: Book ahead of time to make sure you have access to a wide selection of superyachts

During the last few months we have seen a boom in superyacht charters requests , and with many people having suffered from holiday cancellations during 2020, demand is at high. The popular yachts book up fast, especially in the high season weeks.

TIP 2: Be flexible in terms of options and location

It’s a good idea to be open to a variety of options and locations, this will help the BLACKORANGE charter team research the best options for you and your guests. If you are uncertain, ask us for advice and recommendations, we are there to help find you the best vessel in the right location.

TIP 3: Make sure you are aware of all the costs

Defining the final costs can be confusing, but don’t be afraid to ask the BLACKORANGE charter team about the total costs of the charter. Almost all charters have an additional provisional allowance, be it for food, petrol, drinks or port tax, and these are often not calculated within the initial charter fee. It is important to speak about the Advanced Provisioning Allowance (APA) and this will ensure you aren’t caught out by unforeseen costs. There are other fees such as VAT/tax and crew gratuity that your charter consultant will also brief you on prior to you making your decision.

TIP 4: Share your preference list

The more information you give to the BLACKORANGE  charter team about your preferences, the easier it will be for us to brief the crew and make sure  they cater to your desires and ensure that you have the best holiday experience possible. Don’t shy away from asking their advice, or requesting the things you feel you need to truly enjoy your charter – that is what they are there for!

Pay particular attention to the crew, request the crew profile and make sure you share with us the information related to the kind of service you are expecting and that the crew will fit with that; be it formal, energetic, gourmet chef, sport specialists, etc. The crew is just as important, if not more important than the yacht itself!

TIP 5: Review the itinerary suggestions

Do you want to relax and enjoy the privacy offered by the yacht or be entertained during the cruise ? Your captain will have the local knowledge along the route to help you find ‘hidden gems’ along your bespoke itinerary. Whether it be the very best restaurants, an open-air opera, or the most beautiful anchorages for water-sports and idyllic lunches. The captain, together with their crew explore the areas week in week out to seek out the best anchorages, restaurants, ports to give you a unique insight into the cruising grounds. They are knowledgeable – so use them! Captains love sharing their best kept secrets with their guests.

5 superyacht trends you didn’t expect in 2021

The year 2020 had an great impact on traveling across the globe and yachting is no exception.

One thing that resonates in all is that 2021 is  a year of change. When it comes to the world of superyachts, we’re seeing greater attention paid to the world that surrounds us; we’re seeing quality of trips prioritized over frequency and we’re seeing privacy and safety valued more than ever before. How does this translates in the way people spend their holidays? Which trends are starting to shape up and how will they affect holiday planing ?

  1. Family yachting holidays will become the norm

charter a superyact blackorange

Did you miss a family members you couldn’t see or hug ? 2021 carries along the hope of reuniting all generations for some rest and relaxation during vacation times. Providing a private, safe and nurturing environment – with exceptional back drops and service that is second to none – is something a superyacht is ideally placed to do.

From a multi-generational perspective, a yacht has many advantages for keeping all guests amused and together. Young children will love being near the water and can play safely with supervision from the crew. Older kids can revel in higher octane water sports and kick back indoors with many yachts offering a media room, games tables and cinema set up. Parents and grandparents then have the option to take life at their preferred pace, all the while enjoying spectacular cruising, the finest cuisine and the pleasure of having all the family together.

The advantages of having a go-anywhere, autonomous yacht are clearer when faced with travel restrictions and the closure of cultural and social allures ashore enhance the need for a cocoon to escape to at sea and this explains why there are currently more explorer yachts in build than there have ever been (64, up from 58 last year recorded for BOAT International’s GOB).

2020 has given owners, buyers and charterers food for thought when choosing their next yacht and Explorers are increasingly seen as a more flexible option due to their long range, construction for more varied sea states, layout, storage space and equipment geared to spending longer periods on board.

  1. Priority will be given in one big trip over many smaller tripsMOka for charter BlackOrange

With 2020 and the start of 2021 pretty much a no-go for travel, there’s no doubt many of us realized how much we took for granted before. The travel market is anticipating a new trend for long, meaningful trips rather than multiple shorter holidays, as in the past.

A great charter itinerary can be tailored to include everything guests desire. Regular charter clients lengthen the duration of their charter which, with the additional new norms of remote working and potentially less activities on shore, will allow them to serenely sail on for weeks at a time while first-time charter clients may dip their toe in the charter experience looking for a new way to travel that is reassuringly private or they may be ready to book the trip of a lifetime to feel free again after the many lockdowns.

  1. Very private vacations are trending

private luxury holidays aboard a superyacht

The ability to control your environment, ensure everyone in your holiday bubble is tested, and likely in the coming months also vaccinated, will make yacht charter ever more alluring.

Information and communication will remain key and flexibility will be a principal factor for both yacht owners and charterers in terms of final itineraries and safety nets. Tracking vaccination rates and changes in health and travel protocols for each country will help to predict to some extent where people can travel from and what destinations will be open to them throughout 2021.

For the moment, owners and charterers are sure of one thing: they want to spend their vacation time on a yacht.

  1. Time to refurbish and upgrade

Yacht management and refurbishing blackorange

2020 was seen by many owners as a time to take care of maintenance projects as well as enjoy their own yachts when it was possible, ensuring their yachts were in great condition coming into 2021. Yacht owners see some light at the end of the tunnel and see value in marketing their yachts now.

Baglietto launches the hybrid T52

Baglietto relaunches its historic brand through the inclusion of new professional figures that will contribute to make the Italian shipyard even more competitive in the constantly changing superyachts market, where new technologies and sustainable development play an increasingly important role.

The brand will be represented by 3 lines: a more “traditional” displacement line (TLine), and two lines of fast, high-performing, extremely innovative yachts (Fast and Superfast).

The displacement TLine, in steel and aluminium, will include models ranging between 52 m and 65 m in length. The shipyard has already sold the first Baglietto T52 unit, and a second one is currently being built on speculation and expected to be ready for delivery in spring 2023.

The Baglietto T52 is a yacht that draws inspiration from Baglietto’s tradition – preserving its most classical stylistic features – but reinterprets it in a modern, contemporary key.

In particular, this vessel – below 500 GT – is characterised by significant design innovations both forward and aft. The stern has been completely restyled and is now open, with a beach club on 3 different levels.

baglietto-t52-piscina-a-scomparsa

The large pool can be “hidden” by an original up/down moving flooring system. Inside, the floor-to-ceiling glazing of the salon ensures a constant contact with the sea even when living indoors. Definitely worth a special mention is the sky lounge on the upper deck, which can be opened on 3 sides, leaving the windows completely concealed.

At the bow, a retractable ladder directly connects the sun deck and the upper deck, making the latter a natural extension of the former. The yacht will be equipped with a standard hybrid propulsion system that will allow to choose a more efficient navigation mode, reducing both costs and environmental impact.

baglietto-t42-in-navigazione

When cruising in electrical diesel mode, the T52 will have a range of up to 7,600 nm, and will be able to remain at anchor up to 10 hours relying on the batteries only. Her two MTU 16V2000M86 engines, however, will also allow her to reach quite an impressive maximum speed of 17 knots and a range of 3,600 nm in traditional navigation mode.
